Have an organic fruit and be calm.

Good week!

Early risers among us are looking forward to the change to winter time in order to give us a little more light in the mornings. Today at 5:45, when we begin, it’s totally dark! Then the light begins to creep out; at first it’s a kind of darkness that changes its color from black to blue and then suddenly we notice that there is enough light to go out picking. 🙂

In our country the autumn season is characterized by fickleness. The rain that came just over a week ago was amazing and yet the last few days were really hot.

There is so much dew that a walk in the garden at these hours completely wets your boots. And your pants if they are long (every morning I'm still wondering if it is a day to dress long or short…). The days are hot but early in the morning it is chilly. What usually happens is that I go out dressed long, and within two hours I change to short.

In the garden one can really feel the change, and probably you feel it too – the greens are fresher than we have seen in the summer. New seedlings are already sprouting and the garden really changed its face during this last month.

This season we bid farewell to summer fruit like mango – this may be the last week– also peaches, Kobo and pears. But this season, just before it becomes too cold, is exactly what the subtropical annona likes. When it starts getting colder it disappears, so be sure to catch it now.

Organic annona came to us from the South American continent, it is Chile's national fruit. There it is told that it likes to grow where it can look out over the snowy mountains, but not be in such cold.

During the 16th century the annona passed through Spain and Italy where it found favorable growing conditions. There it is still considered a delicacy and is a key ingredient in many desserts.

Its special taste somewhat resembles a banana and pear mixed together and its texture is quite suitable for shakes, cream desserts, custard, ice cream, etc. Accordingly, it has the nickname “custard apple ".

Besides its sweet and inviting flavor, its nutritional value is particularly rich. One species of annona is recognized as a strong fighter of cancer. It helps to calm 🙂 and is particularly rich in vitamins B and C, and the minerals potassium, calcium and magnesium.

It is not grown widely due to its fragility, which causes transport difficulties. When it is ripe, it becomes soft and tender. Any little blow will bruise it. Therefore we receive our annonas slightly hard in order to protect them. Keep them in your fruit bowl until they reach the desired ripeness and then keep them in the fridge.

Despite the strange appearance, the annona is deliciously easy and simple to eat. Simply cut it and eat the delicious white flesh. Do not eat the seeds as they are poisonous. However, they can be ground to be used as tooth paste or planted to become a tree.

Before the organic mangoes disappear I recommend to you a dessert of mango, annona and banana mixed together or blended in the blender :), which can also be frozen.

Beginning this week we are allowed to request and wish for many sweet raindrops to water the crops, drench the earth, clean the air and clean everything else…..

Wishing you a relaxed week of growth.

To Health!
