    Good week!

    Happy holiday!

Hanukkah is one of my favorite holidays. It always comes during the short dark days of the year and it occurs within our daily life. It doesn’t totally stop our routine, but adds seasonal festiveness before the slowness of the cold of winter.

So, about mustard leaves and why cheese in Hanukkah?

Hanukka and Rosh Chodesh Tevet are celebrated in North African communities as the "girls holiday" (Eid al Banat"עיד אל בנאת"), in memory of Judith, the heroine who saved us. The book of Judith is an "external" book to the Tanach and is not included in it.
