    1. Ordering extra vegetables, sprouts, and fruits: Lately, many of you ask me if you can get another something. Of course! You don't need to waive one product in order to receive another. That is exactly why Amir built us a web-based ordering system, where you can very easily add items to your box, either as a one-time or as a permanent request. Online ordering is available from Saturday night till Tuesday at 11:00.

I apologize in advance for my possibly short communications during summer vacation. I made a deal with my children that summer weeks will be divided into work days and vacation days. Thus I gain their help in the garden and with packaging, and I'm available able to give them attention and love.

    Summer, summer to the sea
Summer, summer hot as can be
Vacation, love, and sand are fine
How good the shade of my pine.

    Happy Purim!

We are taking a brief break between the rains and pirate voyages, Indian dancing and Bakoogan's wars (only people between the ages of 5 and 10 understand exactly what these are) to give you a little update from the garden. Thus, here's what the hail did:

    - to the lettuce - The lettuces will not be delivered this week since they look like they've already been chopped for a salad. They will soon heal, grow new leaves, and make it to our plates, but not this week.

  • organic winter spring?

    נכתב ע"י maggie בתאריך 23 בפברואר 2010 |

    Hi to all,

This week I was going to do the final winter planting and then slowly start to get organized for spring. I had already ordered the last of the seedlings of the Brassicaceae family (broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage) about six weeks ago. Of course, I ordered them without being able to anticipate the current unseasonable weather. Two and a half weeks ago, there were "warnings" of snow in our area. After these two weeks of summery weather, it requires much patience and a calm heart to accept that we may have to skip some of the winter planting and go directly into the spring.

  • weeds and winter 4/1/10

    נכתב ע"י maggie בתאריך 4 בינואר 2010 | ,

    Dear vegetable lovers,

The last few weeks have been a race against the weeds and to plant more seeds and seedlings - very atypical for this time of year. Usually in the middle of winter (which is exactly now, after the winter solstice and during the coldest part of the year, when the days are growing longer and we are approaching spring), the war against the weeds eases up, there is a break from planting and sowing, and we slow down because the cold weather slows plant growth.

In the summer, a lettuce seedling can be ready to harvest within 3 weeks of planting.

    Hello Friends,

It has been a long time since I have written to you and there have been many changes and developments in the garden. Click on the following link to see photos taken by Dear Marjolaine. http://maggiesgarden.shutterfly.com/

In the last few weeks, sunlight and warmth have burst forth; spring has arrived like a Pesach gift. Everything is now running at speed. Winter vegetables that are accustomed to a lot of water, low temperature and slow growth are almost gone from the garden and are replaced by summer veggies.
