I think every kitchen needs a pumpkin.
They are so remarkably beautiful that, I think, kitchen designers should include one whenever styling or designing a kitchen.
A large, plump pumpkin for a rustic design, a small chestnut pumpkin on the counter for an Italian-style design and a spaghetti pumpkin to complement any wooden vegetable box beside the counter.

Some organic vegetables are practically genius. They are not only beautiful, tasty and healthy - they even show us how they would be best prepared and served, and how to make them the most delicious. The corn invites us to hold it with both hands nibble (How else could it be eaten?) Sweet potato, carrot and pumpkin look like they ought to be combined together in an orange colored soup.
You know those cute kids who are a bit awkward, very smiley and go straight into your heart?
So in the vegetable world it is the organic pumpkin that does this. :-) It is a bit awkward and plump, but it captures the heart because of its appearance and the stomach because of its taste.
The origin of the pumpkin is probably in Mexico, where it was initially grown for its seeds.

Hot, hot, hot - but when we go out to the garden in the morning, we can see the pumpkin family spreading themselves below the sky as if to get as much heat and light from the hot hot hot sun. Some of the Cucurbitaceae species even have leaves that look like hands. They're spreading their hands to the heavens.
In the middle of the day, during the hottest hours, the plant lowers his leaves and on really hot days even looks raggedy, as if attempting to turn the upper part of the leaf away from the Sun.
THE MAGIC PUMPKIN (curcubita) - from A to Z (actually aleph to taph, which more closely corresponds to the first letters of each comment, and, of course, there are a few english letters missing).
A - Our ancestors remembered the zucchini and watermelons they ate in Egypt and longed for them when they were in the desert. (Numbers יא, ה) They probably intended cucumbers or maybe it was Fakus. In any case they are all members of the Cucurbitaceae family.
