Organic pickled turnip
Ingredients:
1 kg turnips
1 small beet
Salt (a teaspoon per cup of water)
1 tablespoon vinegar
6 cups water
Optional also: lemon, garlic, hot pepper
Preparation:
Carefully wash the turnips and beets and cut them into slices about ½ cm thick.
Place the beet slices at the bottom of the jar, then place in the turnip slices, and pour 1 tablespoon of vinegar on top.
(You can also mix inside lemon pieces, garlic, hot pepper, bay leaves…)
Cover with salt water – one teaspoon per cup of water, according to the size of the jar.
Seal the jar so no vegetable is sticking out of the water – you can use a weight (a bag with water) or with olive oil.
You can start tasting immediately, after a week it is recommended to put the jar in the refrigerator.
