    Dear garden community, happy rain and much of it,
    Notices:
    1. In the next weeks we will incorporate some new products from several more small local producers, based upon our faith in a healthy local economy, beneficial in many ways.
    2. This week we have additional healthy green edible broccoli leaves and passion fruit.  I added propolis, honeycomb, diffrent special honey and pollen. In addition, we will have a new delivery of fresh ginger.

  • broccoli and james bond

    It is always fun to write to you when it's raining!!
    Please welcome the star of the last few weeks - the broccoli !! What, why, how much and how is it related to James Bond?
    1. Broccoli, in Latin, means a limb, or a small branch. You only need to look at it to understand why.
    2. It has been cultivated and in our kitchens for thousands of years. It appeared in the first cook book ever, by Apisius.
    3. It is tasty, nutritional and worth while eating all parts of the organic broccoli: flower, stem (maybe lightly peeled) and leaves.

    Hi everyone,

    It has been two weeks now that harvestable broccoli has been surprising me. It is important to pick this broccoli before its blossoms open and so we have done so. We are always happy to add it to our boxes.

    Accordingly, this week's subject is broccoli (scientific name: Brassica oleracea Italica).

    Broccoli is a member of the cabbage family along with cauliflower (which has a similar scientific name - Brassica oleracea Botrytis), kohlrabi, brussel sprouts, kale and collards.
