It's sunny, we got lots of rain…. What else is needed?
Happy Springtime everybody!
I haven’t written to you in a while, so here’s a short garden update: Artichoke – available for only a few more weeks so catcht it before it disappears!
The winter crops are gone from the garden, and new plants have joined.
Melons, zucchini, 2 kinds of tomatoes, celery, green onion and beet.
Lettuces, by next week, will hopefully overcome the damages the hail brought!

So that’s what's going on in the garden right now J
This week is one of the last for a vegetable that always reminds me" the heart of the issue", the artichoke.
Yes, its heart is yummmmmy (I love artichokes) but it is also a seasonal vegetable, that continues to be seasonal despite the wonders of agricultural technology and always reminds me the heart of the issue: Nature knows best and at the right time! (So long as we don’t interfere).
In the springtime, when most cultures do a thorough cleaning – of the home, of the body, spiritually…. Now it arrives, the king of cleansing, wand shaped – the artichoke!!
The artichoke is rich in anti-oxidants and assists in digestion and decomposition so the liver can filter toxins.
And if you thought that enjoying its taste involves a lot of work, I recently found out that you can eat the outer tougher leaves, the source for the healthiest nutrients of the plant, and then actually bite into the entire flower including the heart (not the most elegant but yummy…)
Here is a previous mail about the king of cleansing. Enjoy: http://www.maggiesgarden.co.il/artichoke/

Yours,
