It has been almost eight years that Maggie's garden exists, wow, how time flies!
Yet, I hardly remember life without the garden …
We have learned and we are learning all the time (a lot with your helpJ). We work while trying to be faithful to our basic ideals:
minimize damage to our environment
Be a local team
Help other farmers and growers market their produce respectfully,
feed all of us with food that is nutritious, fresh and clean
Every single day over the years serious thought is given to how we can reduce environmental impact so we can survive over time and for generations, how to encourage and strengthen the local team while maintaining efficiency, how to encourage more and more growers and producers that work according to our ideas, and, of course, how to give you the best service together with a quality product.
Our history is very interesting and also shows natural growth J. Initially I sold produce only from the garden – mainly sprouts and greens. I then started delivering to houses. We packed the boxes under my father’s tree. The first weeks of delivery to houses we had sprouts, green peas and lettuce J. Slowly I started working with other growers and we offered more and different vegetables. The next product I suggested to you was a weekly box – two sizes of vegetables boxes and two sizes of fruit boxes were offered. A few years later, we built a unique, specific to us, web site allowing you to order a box that contains exactly what you want in it. This was and remains our goal- to give you exactly what you want. From there we developed and expanded our product range. Now, as I once heard someone loved say: "You can get everything from Maggie except meat and dairy products" just like a supermarket but with different principles and a true attempt to be more sustainable and permaculture – maintain the environment, support the community's health and nutrition, encouraging other producers and growers and provide respectable local employment…
During this entire history, we have striven to minimize costs, and we have largely succeeded. Accordingly, from the beginning of selling vegetable boxes, the price has not changed. However, the costs of most products have increased quite a bit during these eight years. This has been on my mind lately and I have been thinking a lot about how to deal with this. We do not wish to reduce the boxes in terms of content, and we certainly do not wish to harm you and your pocketbook. We have always done our best to give you good value for your money.
The solution I am considering is an increase of 10 ₪ per box. I am aware that it is a greater burden on you and I want to hear from you about your thoughts on this, and anything else. As you know, I always strive to keep an open dialogue.
As with any issue, please respond by email/text message or by phone and feel free to share any thoughts, comments and remarks on this subject…
May it be a week of sun and rain with suitable conditions for growth and blossom in all levels.
Yours, and to health (for us, for the environment and for the community)
