GRAPES from A to Z (according to Hebrew – not quite in English)
A. Anthocyanins are found in abundance in grapes and protect us from toxins and harmful substances and aid the integrity of our cell tissue.

C. In Georgian mythology: the goddess of the sun, Mizcaellah is the patron for growing grapes.
D. Dionysus, the Greek God, is the God of the vine and wine, as well as things that are a result of wine; he is also the God of fertility. In Rome he was called Bacchus, the meaning of the name is "wine".
E. Hestia gave Dionysus her place on Olympus, and we hear of her less, even though she was the goddess of the home, the family, the fireplace… between us, I find this much more important.
F. Vitamin C, B vitamins and magnesium – all abundant in grapes.
G. Zag is the grape's thin peel, which surrounds the pulp.
H. Heating grape seed oil does not harm its nutrients, so it is suitable for frying, roasting, baking or any cooking at high temperatures.
I. The Pope's new castle "Chateauneuf du-Pouff" is located in a particularly fertile wine region in the Rhone Valley in France.
J. A story is told of an ancient Persian king named Gamshid who was very fond of grapes and wine:
There were many women in his harem, but he hd grapes only during the growing season. To satisfy his desire for grapes in the winter, he would keep grapes in large clay jars in the cellar and label them "poison" so no one would eat them. The story goes that he was fed up with one of the women in his harem and he sent her away. She went down to the cellar and wanted to drink the poison. She drank it and was disappointed that she did not die, but the fermented grapes of course delighted her heart and gave her courage, so she went to the king with a bowl of it. That is how we know to ferment grapes to make wine ☺

L. Keeping grapes in the freezer is always good during the grape season when there is plenty. They can be used later as ice that will not melt and dilute the wine, in shakes or just a fun snack. Try with the kids ☺
M. In ancient Egypt they cultivated red grapes, as well as in Greece, Rome and Phoenicia.
N. Antioxidants help our bodies to neutralize the activity of unstable molecules (free radicals) that may lead to the development of chronic diseases and accelerate the aging process. Grapes contain more than 1600 of such compounds!
O. grape juice sorbet recipe:
Ingredients:
3 cups grape juice
3 cups water
½ cup sugar
½ cup lemon juice
Preparation:
Boil sugar and water and remove from heat. Stir in the juices. Freeze until hard. Blend in a food processor until smooth and creamy. You can serve immediately or keep frozen for later.
P. It is grape season now!!!
Q. The French Paradox – all day the French eat cheese, cream, butter, red meat and croissants and yet suffer less heart disease . Why is this???? The reason is the Red wine that they drink that contains all the goodness and abundance of resveratrol .
R. France, Champagne. Only wine from the Champagne region in France is allowed to be called "Champagne".
S. “Tendril” is the name of those little arms of the vine that grasp anything near.
T. Resveratrol is an antioxidant found in grapes, which has many health and nutritional benefits and helps prevent and reduce the risk of various cancers, heart disease, atherosclerosis and also prevents infections.
U. Real French champagne, is yellowish and transparent, made from Pinot Noir grapes that are blackish-red, just squeezed and not soaked with the dark skins.
